The permanent exhibition on spacesuit history: from Gagarin’s SK-1 to the modern Orlan-MK EVA suit.
A spacesuit is the smallest spacecraft of all. The exhibition begins with the orange SK-1 in which Gagarin flew and with Leonov’s Berkut — the first suit in the world designed for a spacewalk.
The Sokol KV-2 rescue suit, worn by Soyuz crews at launch and landing, is shown beside a contoured couch cast to the figure of an individual cosmonaut. The semi-rigid Orlan-MK is displayed open: it is entered through a hatch in the back, and visitors can look inside.
The cases are completed by gloves, pressure helmets and the onboard clothing of Mir station crews, while archive footage shows the airlock procedure for a spacewalk.
